We’ve got you covered with amazing packages available to create a memorable day along the Royal Canal Greenway. Spend time casually cycling along the Royal Canal while stopping off for amazing food and drinks at traditional Irish bars, restaurants and cafes along the route. Or arrange a picnic or BBQ at one of the many harbours and picnic areas. If your looking for something extra special, why not arrange a multi-day trip. We are conveniently in Maynooth, just thirty minutes from Dublin city and can arrange transport to and from the city.
Our most popular cycling trip is perfect for groups with mixed abilities. With a total of 26 km over the day, it involves about two hours of cycling with plenty of stops. Starting at our base in Maynooth, your group will be fitted for their bikes and provided with helmets and given a safety briefing.
Then the group will cycle 7km along the Royal Canal Greenway to the wonderful rural village of Kilcock, were you will enjoy a cafe stop on the harbour. Once you are ready, you will take off down the greenway again passing through amazing canal features such as locks and local parks. This section is about 13km and there are plenty of place to get group photos.
The next stop will be Enfield were lunch or a picnic will be arranged. After lunch the legs will be stretched with a short 6km spin to the famous traditional Irish bar Furey’s located right on the Royal Canal for some afternoon refreshments.
Bike & Barge Trip
Our Bike & Barge trips are for those who really want to spoil their staff, combining the relaxation of a barge trip along the Royal Canal and some casual cycling on the Greenway.
This trip starts in Leixlip were you will be welcomed aboard the barge by skipper Jenny Wren. Once you are provided with your safety equipment and a short briefing , you will be on your way. As you slowly cruise along Royal Canal, you will be learn about the history and importance of the Royal Canal on Irish culture. Tea, Coffee and homemade lemonade are provided on board during your two and a half hour cruise to the bustling university town of Maynooth.
Once you reach Maynooth, lunch will be arranged for your group at the famous Shoda Market Cafe. After lunch, you’re group will be fitted for your bikes before exploring the Royal Canal Greenway for the afternoon. There are several distances you can choose to cycle: Kilcock 7km, Enfirld 20km or Furey’s in Moyvalley 26km. The choice is yours!
